What is Veraison?

Veraison (pronounced ver-AY-zhun) marks the onset of ripening. In red varieties, grapes blush from green to hues of ruby and violet, while in white varieties they soften to golden tones. Beyond their beauty, the berries begin to accumulate sugars and soften, while tannins and flavors develop—the essential building blocks of expressive, balanced wines.

Walking through our Yamhill-Carlton vines right now is like witnessing a landscape in motion. Each cluster holds the promise of the 2025 vintage, shifting daily under Oregon’s late-summer sun. The careful balance of warmth and cool nights allows flavors to build slowly, while preserving the bright acidity that defines Tres Colline wines.
